Canine Partners: Dogs, Rocks & Frocks.

Canine Partners – Dogs, Rocks and Frocks!

Hello y’all

I wanted to let you know about a unique fashion show taking place next week.
National charity, Canine Partners, is holding a fabulous fundraising event in London on Thursday 18 November called Dogs, Rocks and Frocks – a fashion show with a difference!

Canine Partners is a registered charity that assists people with disabilities to enjoy a greater independence and quality of life through the provision of specially trained dogs, whose well-being is a key consideration.

I’ll be joining other professional models on the catwalk, with a selection of the Charity’s working assistance dogs who will be showing off their skills in a variety of tasks including taking money from a cash machine, undressing their human partner, and raising the alarm in an emergency.

I have a gorgeous dog, she’s not an assistance dog but I know how essential their skills can be to people with disabilities they can dramatically improve their quality of life. I love my dog to bits and I’m often tempted to smuggle her into shops, restaurants and cinemas with me under the illusion that she’s an assistance dog, but I don’t think she’d pass the skills test; it takes hundreds of hours of training to tailor train the dogs’ skills to their owner’s needs. You can read some of their stories

The show is being carefully choreographed and the production handled by the team from Channel 4’s How To Look Good Naked, all of whom have kindly donated their time, expertise and materials to Canine Partners. Debenhams is generously supplying clothing for all the models, some of whom will have disabilities and will work with the trained dogs on the catwalk and designer Ben de Lisi has donated one of his designs for the auction as well as providing clothes for the models on the catwalk.

Dogs, Rocks and Frocks is being held at St Mary’s in Wyndham Place, London, W1, with a drinks reception at 6.30pm followed by the fashion show and auction with a light supper included.
