AMI Awards

Last Sunday evening I attended the AMI Awards to accept the Mainstream Media Features Award on behalf of Maverick Television and Debenhams for our work on How to Look Good Naked…with a Difference. I accepted the award with Nikki Fox who co presented the show with Natasha Wood and Gok Wan. The AMIs were established to recognise and celebrate diversity and inclusion in the creative media.

There was some incredible talent honoured throughout the evening, The Times journalist Melanie Reid, pianist Nicholas McCarthy and filmmaker Benjamin Richards and a Champion award for Ash Atallah, comedy producing genius! Whilst queuing for the only disabled loo I had a laugh with another award winner, Big Brother’s Steve Gill and his equally cheeky mates.

Nikki & I had good fun at the after party, as you can probably see from the photo below!

Tomorrow I’m off to another awards bash: RADAR People of the Year, to present Accessibility Provider of the Year award.

Be sure to look out for programmes on disability this week, all part of the lead up to the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Friday 3 December; I’m doing BBC News 24 tomorrow….busy week ahead!

About Shannon Murray

I am an actress, broadcaster, writer and lawyer; not really that unusual but I am also paraplegic as a result of an accident as a teenager. This is the place where I ramble on about random stuff.
