RADAR People of the Year Awards

Wow – what a night! My first time presenting an award and I totally fluffed my lines! Excellent. SO embarrassed but I’ve been reassured that I made a good recovery. I somehow managed to say that the award winner, Arsenal FC, could tattoo your dog, obviously I completely misread the line, so I adlibbed and advised the audience against such craziness!

I was delighted and honoured to collect another award, the RADAR Factual Media Award, with Nikki Fox and Jane Galpin on behalf of everyone who worked on “How to Look Good Naked…with a Difference”; It’s such a pleasure to see the show recognised for the impact it made, a really big thank you again to everyone at Channel 4 and Maverick who made it possible. (Big up to Gok Wan!)

I also met the gorgeous Diana Morgan-Hill from Dancing on Wheels, with her equally gorgeous dance coach, Brian Fortuna from Strictly Come Dancing & Dancing with the Stars. I had to admit to initially being unsure about the whole concept of the programme and wheelchair ballroom dancing, but was genuinely won over by the show and their dedication to ensuring the dance choreography was as impressive as that of able bodied dancers.

It was a really positive evening, celebrating successful people achieving highly in different industries regardless of their disability. The venue was a lovely winter wonderland, complete with fake snow, candelabras and a certain someone providing ice cold double vodkas…Suffice to say I was a little tired the following day!

Thank you to everyone at RADAR!
